Retreat: Transportation

TO AND FROM NEW ORLEANS

Louis B. Armstrong International Airport (MSY)

The Retreat hotel is just 25 minutes from the Louis B. Armstrong International Airport. A variety of services from Uber and Lyft to taxis and shuttle busses are available. If you would like to share a ride from the airport, post your arrival information on the NAPAMA Retreat Event Facebook Page (to be created by January 1).

Uber and Lyft work much the same way in New Orleans as anywhere else with both reported to be about the same cost as a taxi. And llke most airports, there is a designated area for Uber and Lyft pick up.

Check out more information about Airport Ground Transportation on MSY's webpage.

Getting Around New Orleans

Taxi or Uber/Lyft

Due to the high cost to park a car in New Orleans (generally upwards of $45 a night), it may be best to keep your car at home and come in by air, train, or bus and rely on a public ride while in the city.

In town, you can often find a taxi stand at major hotels and attractions, by calling ahead or hailing one on a busy street. However, taxis may be difficult to find in less crowded areas and on quieter nights. So, it is best to use Uber/Lyft, call the taxi company, or ask a restaurant, hotel, or lounge server to call one for you. Check this page for more information about NOLA Taxi services.

Parking

As mentioned above, parking tends to be difficult and expensive in downtown New Orleans, generally around $35-45 a night in the area of our hotel. So, we recommend you leave your car at home. However, here is information provided by New Orleans and Company, NOLA's convention service. Parkmobile is the app of choice for online parking meter payment.
